Questions people actually ask

The short answers, no scrolling through a wall of legal text required.

Is my file stored anywhere?

No. cooy transfers directly between your browser and the receiver's browser. There is no server storage step, so there's nothing to leak, lose, or subpoena.

What happens if I close the tab?

The transfer stops immediately. Keep the sender tab open until the receiver has finished downloading.

Does local WiFi mode need internet?

No. It uses your browser's own messaging between tabs or devices on the same network. If you're sending between two tabs on the same device, it works with no network at all.

Is there a file size limit?

Practically, it's limited by your device's memory and the stability of the connection, not by cooy itself. Bigger files just take longer.

Do I need to sign up?

Never. No account, no email, no password.

Is cooy really free?

Yes. It costs almost nothing to run since nothing is stored. If it's useful to you, a small contribution helps keep it that way.
