cooy exists because sending a 200MB video to your friend should not require an account, an upload bar, and a company somewhere storing a copy you never asked them to keep.

How it actually works

cooy connects two browsers directly, yours and the receiver's, using WebRTC. Pick a file, share the link or the QR code, and the transfer moves straight from your device to theirs. Nothing touches a server in between. Close the tab and the file is gone, because it was never stored anywhere to begin with.

Two ways to send

Internet mode works across any network, anywhere. A lightweight signaling step just helps two browsers find each other, then gets out of the way.

Local WiFi mode skips the internet completely when both people are on the same network or the same device, using the browser's own messaging tools.

Why it's free

Running cooy costs close to nothing because there's no storage bill, no server holding your files. If it saves you a step, support the project so it stays free for everyone else too.
